About KPI
Kabataang-Pilipino, Inc. or KPI is a non-stock, non-profit, non-government organization duly registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). [Click here to see the SEC Registration Certificate].
KPI was established with a mission to bring hope to the Filipino youth by:

-
Providing an opportunity to financially challenged Filipino youth to finish their primary, secondary, tertiary, or vocational education through financial assistance, sponsor networking, or scholarship information and assistance;
-
Providing developmental and/or training programs, activities, or events that would support or enhance the grantees' experience as KPI scholars;
-
Providing other acts of charity to help other sectors of the society particularly the youth to cope up with poverty, disaster, or misfortune; and,
-
Pro-actively promoting the enhancement of the quality of Philippine education in the belief that "education" is the answer to the country's progress and development and people empowerment.

KPI envisions itself to be a catalyst of Philippine development through education and become a model organization for other individuals or organizations in conveying the message that the Filipino youth is worth helping.
The Filipino Youth! KPI shares the belief of Dr. Jose Rizal (the Philippines' foremost national hero) that the "youth is the hope of the nation." In doing this, all of KPI's programs and activities are and will be designed towards the development of an enlightened, informed, and responsible breed of Filipino youth that will be ready to contribute a positive impact to their respective communities, societies and to the nation as a whole. KPI is shaping the leaders of the future! See our KPI Graduates/Alumni here.

KPI is a fulfillment of a promise. This promise was made some three years ago by its Founding Chairman, Jun Kabigting as he was bidding for a scholarship grant to study MBA in the US. He promised to himself that if he gets the scholarship he will share the blessing to others in every possible way he can.

Eventually, in 1999 Jun got a full MBA scholarship grant from the Asian Development Bank (www.adb.org) under its Government of Japan Scholarship Program and the Hawaii-based East-West Center (www.eastwestcenter.org) in cooperation with the Japan-America Institute of Management Science (www.jaims.org) also based in Hawaii.

As part of the fulfillment of the requirements of the MBA degree of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a two-month internship in a company in Japan was required from each student. In doing so, JAIMS has managed to place Jun in the world's largest consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (www.pwcglobal.com ) specifically in its Human Resource consulting practice.

Starting of as an intern, Jun was eventually absorbed by PwC to become part of its Global Human Resource Solutions (GHRS) practice in Japan. "And the rest," as they say "is history…" In hindsight, this was the start of the fulfillment of a promise that is to become KPI.
Partnering with other people who share with the idea that in the educated Filipino youth lies the hope of the Philippines' progress, Jun together with his family and close personal and professional friends then proceeded to form what is now Kabataang-Pilipino, Inc. or KPI.

Currently, KPI's flagship program is the KPI Scholarship Program (KPISP). It aims to provide an opportunity to financially challenged Filipino youth to finish their primary and/or secondary education through financial assistance, sponsor networking, or scholarship information and assistance. Subject to availability of funds, this program shall also provide assistance to qualified youth for their tertiary or vocational education. For more information about KPISP, click here.

There are also other support and developmental programs, events, or activities being implemented, sponsored, or endorsed by KPI in order to enhance the scholars' KP experience. Sample activities include campaigns against drug addiction and lawlessness, environmental awareness programs, values orientation, computer-literacy training, leadership seminars, entrepreneurship courses, and other programs suggested by KPI's local representatives.
KPI believes in the power of partnership in bringing about lasting change. We partner with individuals and/or organizations in order to facilitate the helping out process. We believe that there are people out there who are ready and willing to help others and just needed to be guided on how to do it. KPI provides this means.

Our operational model is simple. It is called Sponsor-Scholar Matching. Sponsors can be individuals, group of individuals, or organizations (private or public). Scholars for matching are carefully selected and screened out following the established requirements and standards of the Kabataang-Pilipino Scholarship Program. Thus, potential sponsors are always assured that the scholar(s) they are getting are those who really deserved to be helped and exhibit strong potential to be successful and help others in the future.

Pooling of other donations from various donors (i.e., individuals or organizations) is also done until the required budget allocated for a scholar is reached. We do this process over and over again until all available resources are allocated.
In addition, to carry out the task of implementing the other support and developmental programs for the KP scholars, we partner with individuals and organizations (government and other non-government) which has recognized expertise in these areas.

As in other non-profit organizations, KPI works through unpaid volunteers who happen to share the same desire to help other people without expecting anything in return. They dedicate their time, effort, money, and other resources to carry out this noble cause. Simply put, KPI volunteers and advocates share in the same dream of bringing hope to the Filipino youth.

The scholarship program is open to all highly-motivated Filipino youth who are academically and/or artistically inclined/gifted or handicapped individuals. Please click here to know the details.

The KPI Endowment Fund is a permanent fund bestowed upon Kabataang-Pilipino, Inc. in order to help carry out its mission. All donations made to the Fund are pooled together and invested on risk-free, interest-earning investment instruments such as time deposits or treasury stocks or bonds. The interests earned from this investment are then used to cover the costs incurred by KPI in carrying out its work. Since the principal is left untouched and additional donations are likewise re-invested again to profitable and safe investments, the endowment fund becomes a lasting source of fund to KPI thereby helping it to continue do its work. Think of this as something that even if you only give once the fruits of your philanthropy are borne for years to come.

Do you have old, unused but operational or in good condition personal effects such as computers, books, school supplies, clothes, shoes, etc. that you think you can give away so that other people can use them instead? If your answer is "yes" then you are on your way to become a donor-in-kind. This is KPI's answer to the common misconception that you need money to help others. We believe that there are many ways to help. We'll just have to be creative about it.
