The scholarship program is open to all highly-motivated Filipino youth who are academically and/or artistically inclined/gifted or handicapped individuals satisfying the following qualifications:
 

A. General Qualifications:

• Annual family income of less than P100,000 as proven by a BIR-validated Income Tax Return or any other proof of income validated/certified/issued by the applicant's Barangay of residence

• No immediate family member has been granted in the past with a Kabataang Pilipino scholarship grant

• Has a strong desire to pursue and finish education and the belief that "education" is the answer to the Philippines' development and progress.

• Submitted a handwritten Letter of Request for Scholarship (in native or English language although the latter is preferred for the sake of foreign donors) to the Kabataang Pilipino Board of Trustees

• Certificate of residency and good moral character from the Barangay of residence and any two of the applicant's past teachers, instructors, or professors or any verifiable character references

• Also to be submitted once the applicant is finally selected as a grantee is the Kabataang Pilipino Covenant of Partnership to be executed between KPI and the grantee's parents or legal guardian(s) in order to formalize the partnership nature of the grant. This Covenant emphasizes the important role that parents/legal guardians play in the successful completion of their child's education through the scholarship grants provided by KPI.

B. Academic Scholarship

​

• For elementary applicants, general weighted average of at least 85% or equivalent in the immediate/previous year from the date of application to this program and should be at least an incoming 4th grader at the time of the scholarship grant.

• Endorsed by the adviser and/or principal of the school where the applicant is studying or going to study.

• For high school applicants, general weighted average of at least 85% or equivalent in the immediate/previous year from the date of application to this program and should be at least an incoming 1st year HS student at the time of the scholarship grant.

• Endorsed by the adviser and/or principal of the school where the applicant is studying or going to study.

• For college applicants, general weighted average of at least 85% or equivalent OR no failing grades on all subjects taken in the immediate school year from the time of application. Applicant should also be at least an incoming freshman at the time of the scholarship grant.

     Note: Effective SY2011-2012, we are accepting all college applications regardless of their level (ie freshman         or not) to help more those students who only have 1-2 yrs before
               they graduate so that they DO graduate.

​

• For vocational applicants, priority shall be given to those taking up any IT-related courses (e.g., programming, web designing, etc.). Other courses may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Board of Trustees.

C. Art Scholarship (any educational level)

​

• For applicants with talents in the visual and written arts, sculpture, or any form of physical arts, submit sample(s) of work to the KP Screening/Selection Committee for evaluation. All submitted work samples by applicants become the property of KPI.

• For applicants with talents in the performing arts, please arrange an appropriate schedule with the KP Screening/Selection Committee to demonstrate the talent.

D. Handicapped Scholarship (any educational level)

• Medical certification from a doctor or attending physician

• Recently taken (i.e., not older than 3 months) color photographs to show proof of disability/handicap.
